Getting Back to It

Our first time camping several years ago was met with the realization that neither of us knew how to build a fire. We have since learned.
I then decided to draw people faces because I am admittedly horrible at them.
And a self-portrait for good measure.

Change

I haven't been making art lately. I'm going to change this.

Pages 3 & 4

Waiting to write the text in later. Luckily these pages are pretty straight forward. Page 3

I'm currently working on a big project that has sort of come in and out of my life periodically. I've finally decided the shape it will take form in: graphic novel. It is a story that I've been fiddling around with here and there, whittling and carving it until it represents it's true essence. The written portion is still very much in beta, in need of a great deal of tweaking so that it doesn't sound like a fifth-grader wrote it. I am hoping to post these in two-page increments so as to encourage myself to keep going. So, without further ado: the story.
I've uploaded them larger than I normally do so that the text is readable.

collages with real things

This weekend I spent a day locked in a hotel just making art. This is what came of that.
Then, this morning I made a couple of small collages, all are 3 x 5".

Physical Graffiti

After having done so many digital collages I decided it was high time to do a physical collage. Here are a couple of the experiments.
And I worked on some ink and white gouache illustrations.

A Real Cut-Up

I sent this to Clara for her birthday two days ago.
And this to Alissa for Handmade 2012.

Feelings

Also, I decided to verify that I can still draw from life. Wood shavings have interesting shapes.

Paper cuts

Sending my first official Handmade 2012 item out tomorrow, welcome back to the US, Alissa!
My brother-in-law graduated from college last sunday, way to go Will!
I am going to start drawing more. I went through a lot of my previous work two days ago and I had forgotten how much I use to draw. I draw in my sketchbook but nothing with much sincerity. So I'm going to endeavor to do more on that end.
